[00:00:21] Raj, this is the Women Podcast, if you have enjoyed, if you have seen any of these podcast interviews, it used to be called something else, but now it's called The Woman Podcast, this is Raj and a very good evening, and we are in the UK now, 6.47 to be precise!
[00:00:41] So we have back with us Sarah Louise , she's a very talented country singer, busy as always, how are you Sarah?
[00:00:50] Oh great, thank you Arash. Great to see you again.
[00:00:54] Yes, great to have you back on.
[00:00:57] And since obviously we chatted like you were mentioning before, Off Air
[00:01:03] was back in 2022. It seems like a long time ago and you've been very busy
[00:01:08] since then. That very interesting album you've
[00:01:13] released, Change of Plan. When did this
[00:01:17] all come together?
[00:01:22] Do you know what, I've been wanting to, I am a bit of a release junkie. I love to
[00:01:26] release music because I just love writing and I love releasing.
[00:01:30] But this album I wanted to release in October and it would have
[00:01:37] been so good to release it like a year
[00:01:39] after the now. But everything that was happening
[00:01:43] last year, it kind of put a kibosh on all my plans
[00:01:48] because I basically got ill and then I fell over in
[00:01:54] noise art and damaged my elbow and hurt my elbow so I couldn't play
[00:01:57] guitar as much as I wanted to. So everything got put to the back
[00:02:02] burner and everything was a little bit delayed. But do you know what, it
[00:02:05] happened for a reason so that I could finish all these amazing songs
[00:02:09] with so many talented collaborators that I was with.
[00:02:15] And it's just, it all happened for a reason. So as I waited, the longer I
[00:02:19] waited, the more songs I had for the album.
[00:02:22] So yeah, so then I thought, do you know, I need to actually
[00:02:25] wait because there's more songs I need to put on this. So I'll just wait
[00:02:28] and then release it next year. So I waited till my birthday.
[00:02:31] I think that was pretty much six months wait it was.
[00:02:35] Yeah, I remember when you hurt your shoulder because I saw it on
[00:02:39] YouTube, yeah. You were still performing in
[00:02:42] doing the music and your shoulder was all strapped.
[00:02:45] Your shoulder and stuff. I'm thinking, oh my god what's
[00:02:49] happened? What's happened to Sarah? What's she done to herself?
[00:02:51] And I sent you a message but you might have gone to your spam
[00:02:56] folder, I don't know. Oh you sent me a message? Sorry Raj, I didn't see it.
[00:02:59] Yeah, I was in a scene. She probably hasn't seen it but I thought,
[00:03:03] oh my word, what's happened? What's she done to herself?
[00:03:08] But yeah, but I was in a sling and I wasn't supposed to be playing but
[00:03:14] I needed to. It was horrible because I couldn't exercise, I couldn't
[00:03:18] write, I literally had to sing melodies into my phone. That was the
[00:03:21] only way I could write music which was the old way I used to
[00:03:25] write music. So a little part of me is quite glad
[00:03:28] because I probably wouldn't have come up with the songs that I did if it
[00:03:31] was just guitar because I would have been very limited on chord
[00:03:34] arrangements. This way I was able to be more
[00:03:39] creative with my voice, send it to
[00:03:43] musicians that were actually professional guitarists,
[00:03:47] not just guitarists that learn in lockdown and they were like, how about
[00:03:51] this? And I was like, whoa yes do that, love that. Okay can we
[00:03:56] add some banjo to that? Yeah let's do that then. Can we add
[00:04:01] some saxophone to that? Yeah! So yeah it's been an amazing, like
[00:04:08] last year was just my best songwriting year
[00:04:11] because I got to spend time with people that I wouldn't have spent time
[00:04:14] with before and I did some writing with Ian Ray who
[00:04:18] is a jazz musician and he's very very popular on TikTok. He goes live
[00:04:24] three times a day bless him, 77 years old
[00:04:27] and he goes live three times a day and he's just got so many
[00:04:31] amazing songs out there and we got together and wrote songs together and we
[00:04:35] wrote a song for my mom for her 70th birthday. So it's been
[00:04:39] really nice because I was able to put both of them on the album you know.
[00:04:43] Oh that's fantastic, hats off to him because even now after about more than
[00:04:48] a year I've still not figured out how to use TikTok properly so
[00:04:51] I've given up hope on that. Well TikTok I met some amazing people on
[00:04:56] but it just annoys me a little bit
[00:04:59] sometimes because one minute I'll have 100 people in my
[00:05:03] life the next minute I've got six because if you're not getting gifted
[00:05:07] on TikTok then you're not a good
[00:05:12] artist, you're not a good creator. If people aren't gifting you
[00:05:15] they don't let people stay in your live
[00:05:19] and they don't put you out there on the for you page. You're like
[00:05:22] just getting you're getting followers like but not organically
[00:05:27] because they're putting them away and I don't like it. You can't get the reach that you
[00:05:31] can on YouTube and also on Instagram and
[00:05:35] Instagram and YouTube are kind of my favorites for that.
[00:05:39] I'm just trying to figure out how I can save comments in Instagram
[00:05:43] because I get some lovely comments on my lives and then they're gone.
[00:05:47] So that's what I love about YouTube, you get to see it all again
[00:05:51] and you can keep the comments as well right?
[00:05:55] Yeah absolutely that's true and I eventually had to get rid of my
[00:06:01] TikTok because I was getting so many spam messages sent
[00:06:04] on TikTok to me and I'm like and they were very
[00:06:10] totally you know like totally spam out of 100 percent totally
[00:06:14] and I'm like I used to get tired of deleting those messages and I'm like
[00:06:17] I need to show down my TikTok because I'm getting
[00:06:21] so many of these weird notifications now.
[00:06:24] The thing is all you have to do is speak about what you want and then they'll
[00:06:28] send you loads of stuff and they'll send it so
[00:06:32] earlier on what was I talking about earlier on I was talking about
[00:06:36] I don't know some detoxing or something like that and all of a sudden
[00:06:40] PTs are like sending me videos about detox it's like
[00:06:44] whoa I literally only said the word detox and everyone's sending me
[00:06:48] videos on it now you can't do anything everyone's listening.
[00:06:53] Yeah that's that is so true that is definitely
[00:06:59] it is social media you have to spend a lot of time on social media
[00:07:03] to you know get it bigger definitely on there but yeah so
[00:07:10] change of plan was released recently
[00:07:15] when did it come out 28th of March so it's been out it's been out I've just
[00:07:22] over a week wow okay let's uh let's just put if
[00:07:26] anybody isn't aware of your website address this is your website.
[00:07:29] I'm just trying to see on YouTube if there's anyone um on the comments because
[00:07:33] I've told people about it so if you are on YouTube hi
[00:07:38] sorry we're late I had a microphone like I did earlier it's all my fault
[00:07:43] it's um I'm afraid I'm afraid as you know
[00:07:47] it's uh it's one of the things with live streaming it happens
[00:07:50] and that's why some of my interviews they are live but some of them are
[00:07:55] are not like recorded that's the reason because
[00:07:59] I used to get too many issues with live you know live recording
[00:08:02] what I still do them depending on the artist but
[00:08:06] uh depending on how they feel and what that kind of stuff
[00:08:11] so yeah so Sarah Lewis dot biz official website I'm not going to go on to it
[00:08:15] now because Sarah Lewis will start singing on the
[00:08:17] website if I do um yeah my friend my friend said to me
[00:08:23] you know you're a singer you've got to have singing straight away I was like
[00:08:26] but why people at work? It's a very good idea that is
[00:08:31] actually I like the idea to be honest where your song comes straight
[00:08:35] away when you load up your website
[00:08:39] you will listen to me
[00:08:44] yeah and people can purchase your I've seen on there
[00:08:48] people can purchase your album digitally on your website
[00:08:52] uh which is another great thing where you know like sometimes
[00:08:57] uh you can't purchase it directly you have to go onto iTunes or
[00:09:02] a lot of people don't have iTunes and a lot of people don't have CD players
[00:09:05] so the other option is Amazon and a lot of people don't have Spotify
[00:09:10] but they can listen to the music if they want to
[00:09:14] by purchasing it as a digital download and then they can listen to it
[00:09:18] whenever they want then it's just stored in a folder
[00:09:21] um so they can listen to it one whatever they want
[00:09:25] it's a good idea that is it's a very good idea I think it works both
[00:09:29] ways it makes it easier for the fans for
[00:09:32] uh you know to purchase it straight away on your website rather than go on
[00:09:36] there then go on to somewhere else you know and they may not have an
[00:09:40] account number it just becomes it also when when you haven't got
[00:09:45] iTunes and you have to purchase it just so
[00:09:48] you can listen to something that's just not you know that's not
[00:09:51] fair is it then because then you're in your phone is
[00:09:54] just full up of stuff that you don't want
[00:09:57] you just want to listen to one song you've got to download iTunes it's a bit of a
[00:10:00] con really isn't it I know exactly that sounds more
[00:10:03] like my phone to be honest you absolutely don't need
[00:10:08] loads of apps I've been I've been I've been deleting them since last week
[00:10:12] um that's so funny I've been deleting since last week
[00:10:16] uh because I've got so many accounts which I don't need and I'm like
[00:10:20] finally get rid of them and empty the storage oh I must pay
[00:10:25] in total probably nearly 35 pound a month just for storage I've got drop
[00:10:29] box I've got iCloud I've got oh yeah because I learned the hard way I
[00:10:34] got my phone stolen New Year's Eve in London and I lost
[00:10:38] many songs and so much stuff because I wasn't able to back it up to the
[00:10:42] cloud so now I've got like full backup in the cloud I'm like I'm not
[00:10:45] letting that happen again because I need all my songs
[00:10:51] so yeah and all my pictures and videos I had so much footage I love
[00:10:55] it I like if I go out for a walk and I see some blossom or I hear some
[00:10:58] birds sing and I'm just videoing the whole thing because I just
[00:11:01] get so inspired by nature and I'm just like
[00:11:04] look at that look at them birds flying together I must film that and then I
[00:11:08] lost all my like footage of stuff that
[00:11:10] I've taken but never mind I started a little bit
[00:11:17] yeah so yeah so we've uh we're talking about your album change
[00:11:24] or plan um so how long did it take to write this
[00:11:27] new album of yours how long do you take roughly so
[00:11:35] I started like the first song that was on the album I released
[00:11:38] in 2023 which was called Half of You that was last year's release that was
[00:11:46] my first release last year which was a
[00:11:48] special song and that Tim Portie Jones produced
[00:11:51] with me and I wanted it to have a little bit of a difference I wanted
[00:11:55] it to be more sort of upbeat but dancey I don't know sort of a bit
[00:12:01] inspired by Adele really and something like um
[00:12:07] set fire to the rain sort of style and I kind of
[00:12:10] I had this in mind I went boo and and then I said I need strings and I
[00:12:14] need this and I need drums I need this and
[00:12:16] I wanted to make it more singer songwriter-y rather than country
[00:12:20] because I just wanted to be more expressive and be able to use piano
[00:12:25] and just be a little bit different and what's really strange is my most
[00:12:29] popular songs that are streamed at the moment
[00:12:32] are the songs where I've used piano which is really strange because
[00:12:37] I think people prefer me to sing with piano
[00:12:40] because there's less going on and then you can hear
[00:12:44] more of my voice so I was being really experimented and then when I
[00:12:47] went to Noida in Scotland I was collaborating with some
[00:12:51] amazing artists there and got to find my true self about
[00:12:55] what songs I wanted to write about and I stopped
[00:12:58] everything else that I was doing before and just started again
[00:13:02] pretty much from scratch and sort of went right
[00:13:05] let's be organic let's write for me instead of for others now because
[00:13:11] before I was just trying to be like a self-help book I think
[00:13:14] whereas now it's more yeah this is coming from me now like
[00:13:19] this is this is what I feel I want to get it out you know
[00:13:24] so that's the change of plan Rob that's the change
[00:13:31] so yeah change of plan and uh change of plan
[00:13:35] is I mean I saw when Richelle sent it off he said
[00:13:41] uh lose yourself in the wonder of nature
[00:13:46] um change of plan so what's what's the
[00:13:49] meaning behind change of plan is it like anything based on yourself
[00:13:53] well basically um when when I was in Noida we went on a two-hour walk
[00:14:00] which meant we had to be quiet and as soon as I was quiet and in
[00:14:06] touch with my own feelings and thoughts it was just
[00:14:10] really revelating to find out what I really felt like about stuff you know
[00:14:14] I thought I needed to be in Nashville to be successful
[00:14:19] I thought I needed to be surrounded by country artists to feel
[00:14:23] appreciated I thought I needed to be I don't know younger um but but
[00:14:30] something happened really liberating being around other songwriters and
[00:14:34] like-minded people and then I realized what's more important
[00:14:39] is the the things that we have in life that we don't
[00:14:43] really appreciate nature we don't appreciate
[00:14:46] the things that are already there sometimes we take for granted those
[00:14:50] things like we wrote a song um at a songwriting
[00:14:54] workshop it's called I am Angel and it's all
[00:14:57] about murmurations in nature and about how the birds come together and if you
[00:15:01] take a look and look up at the sky for five minutes suddenly all your
[00:15:06] worries are gone because nature just takes over if
[00:15:10] you go to the beach it just makes me forget about my
[00:15:13] problems if I watch the sunset it just makes you know I've been
[00:15:17] inspired by nature the whole album has kind of made me feel
[00:15:21] you know what just take everything in that you possibly can because life's so
[00:15:26] short and we need to just appreciate everything that's happening
[00:15:29] and we wrote a song about um a leaf that lost its way
[00:15:33] and this leaf um I wrote with Will Underwood
[00:15:37] and um Sophie because I basically the two people that I met and me and Will
[00:15:42] actually went to Nashville and showcased that song and everyone
[00:15:47] loved it and then I thought do you know what
[00:15:49] I think this is the this is the journey this is the journey for me I need to
[00:15:53] start concentrating on the things that people take for
[00:15:56] granted and write about stuff I appreciate and maybe
[00:15:59] other people all appreciate it too and they do
[00:16:02] so yeah that's what it means get lost in what on earth is she going on
[00:16:06] about yeah absolutely uh let's just uh I'm
[00:16:13] just gonna in a second just take us up for one
[00:16:19] second so I can just put in the change of plan
[00:16:22] image so one second everyone we're just going to disappear for one
[00:16:27] sec so I can just put this on so you can see the album what does it
[00:16:31] contain the singles all of the the big plan
[00:16:39] he's gonna show you so that's basically
[00:17:05] that's the list of the album what it contains so how many
[00:17:11] singles have you released so far then and since it is come up how many
[00:17:16] singles from that album yeah so the first single was half of
[00:17:21] you the second single was um better be lightning
[00:17:28] okay then um she lost her way be real um
[00:17:36] and I am angel
[00:17:40] uh so basically there's only two that I haven't released
[00:17:45] I've been releasing them all year part of the story
[00:17:49] which was a an acoustic um collaboration with my friend Pat and
[00:17:55] he sang on it with me it's a duet part of the story and the thing is I
[00:17:59] wanted to put who I wrote the songs with on the
[00:18:02] backs as well so you could see whose features in it
[00:18:05] but I couldn't fit all the text along the back of the album
[00:18:09] so inside the album here I've literally listed everybody
[00:18:16] that's on it and I've done like a description I don't know if you can
[00:18:19] see that but there you go and it basically tells you
[00:18:26] who's on it and that is the that is Naughty Dark
[00:18:31] see I've got my sling on there can you see it
[00:18:36] there we go so yeah that's the album and that's the
[00:18:41] that's the back so I couldn't actually fit everything on it so I had to sort of
[00:18:45] move it over a little bit yeah wow uh so all these singles they
[00:18:54] were released what in uh 20 since last year
[00:19:00] I've released so this year so far I have released sorry not sorry
[00:19:10] and I ain't got the time and when I released I ain't got the time
[00:19:16] it went to number two and then went to number one I was so
[00:19:19] shocked I weren't expecting that it went to number one in the singer songwriter
[00:19:23] charts the week before the release of this I released
[00:19:26] I ain't got the time and it's quite a joke really because I actually wrote
[00:19:30] that song in my dream and and the song I decided to call
[00:19:35] it I ain't got the time is because it's all about relationships and like
[00:19:38] if you're not serious about someone then don't
[00:19:40] waste their time so it's like I ain't got the time stop messing me around
[00:19:45] but but it's quite funny because I'm so short of time everyone's like oh that
[00:19:48] must be good I ain't got the time that's typical Sarah's song that is
[00:19:52] but yeah I was really really pleased about that so yeah I've released all of
[00:19:56] them I released She Lost Her Way and Better
[00:19:59] Be Lightning in the same weekend and we had a special launch party and
[00:20:04] because it was about a leaf we called it
[00:20:06] the relief launch it's a bit silly really a bit of play on words but
[00:20:10] no that was really fun that was in Colchester that was in a bar in
[00:20:14] Colchester it was just so special to have everybody there
[00:20:17] it was really nice it was like a Noid Art reunion really
[00:20:21] and and All I Need was released in 2018 this one
[00:20:27] because that was the first song that I ever released
[00:20:31] and it's never been on any album so I wanted to put it on this album
[00:20:36] just to give it a little bit of you know because it hasn't had any
[00:20:42] sort of recognition yet that song and and the reason I chose Sorry Not Sorry
[00:20:47] live is because I recorded that live on TikTok that one and I wanted to put
[00:20:51] that on there because everybody on TikTok kind of
[00:20:53] helped me record that because I had a really sore throat and I
[00:20:58] had a cough which I couldn't get rid of and it took me so long to
[00:21:01] record that song I had to record it live and I wanted
[00:21:05] to put it on there so people know that that's when I did it
[00:21:09] so yeah that's why I added those two as bonus tracks
[00:21:16] hey Helen wow yes so that's that's the
[00:21:29] that's that's the first first comment there
[00:21:33] so yeah absolutely absolutely so this so you've been totally
[00:21:37] totally super busy with the singles releasing and on there is there any
[00:21:43] any effort where you release one single from the album and you think
[00:21:46] okay I need to wait a little while to release the second single or is it like
[00:21:51] any length of time or do you just release
[00:21:54] one after the other one well no there is there is a method in my
[00:21:57] madness so there's the single on there the
[00:22:00] second single Cup of Coffee that's really special
[00:22:03] because that is a song that we wrote in Noidart me and my friend Tom
[00:22:08] and this single I've already contacted Shelter UK
[00:22:13] to get their support on this song because we want all the money to go to
[00:22:16] Shelter UK for homeless people because obviously we feel really quite
[00:22:19] passionate about helping people because we've both experienced
[00:22:23] that especially because I've been busking
[00:22:26] I get to receive firsthand the struggles
[00:22:30] and it's really not nice how people have to live
[00:22:33] and also Tom was sharing his experience of it with me too so we
[00:22:38] both wrote a song about it and got really emotional because we really
[00:22:42] felt what people were going through we kind of tried to express it in the song
[00:22:47] Cup of Coffee which is also basically saying
[00:22:49] people haven't got a family people haven't got love
[00:22:52] they haven't got kindness all they've got is a sleeping bag
[00:22:57] and all they want is happiness and family and just to feel loved and
[00:23:01] cuddled and warm and a hot soup you know it's just
[00:23:05] like and that's what this is about it's
[00:23:08] like wanting to ask for more but not knowing how because they don't
[00:23:11] really know what they want they just want to be loved
[00:23:14] and that's mostly what everybody wants right but they don't know that they
[00:23:18] want it they just get upset about things
[00:23:21] because there's stuff missing from their lives
[00:23:24] that they don't know what's missing but I really want that song to
[00:23:27] capture some awareness for people so be a bit more compassionate towards
[00:23:31] people that are struggling in life so all the money from that song is
[00:23:35] going to Shelter charity but we've got to release it as a single first
[00:23:39] so that people will appreciate it more because it's just on an album at the
[00:23:43] moment but when it's a single then more money and awareness can be
[00:23:47] raised but I kind of want to make the album
[00:23:49] have a little bit of you know people are oh gosh she's only just
[00:23:52] bringing out a single she's only just brought out
[00:23:54] you know I've got to have a breather Raj got breathe
[00:24:00] that's true that's that's true um yeah absolutely I mean uh obviously
[00:24:07] you're human after all so you have to have a breather yourself
[00:24:10] uh but it's a great cause like you said um even in the UK
[00:24:15] this lava we made our realize this because we get so busy with our own
[00:24:20] work patterns and stuff that there are a lot of homeless people in the UK as
[00:24:23] well so definitely uh every little every
[00:24:28] little does help them so it doesn't make a difference so that's and that's
[00:24:31] that's a nice noble thing you're doing there
[00:24:33] and I'm sure it will make a difference in their lives for sure
[00:24:37] uh yeah absolutely absolutely uh what was the reason behind uh you said
[00:24:43] the thing is called a cup of coffee
[00:24:47] uh was it any particular so so the lyrics are love and like the guy
[00:24:53] that comes to buy me a cup of coffee every day
[00:24:56] I want to tell this person all of my worries because he seems to be the
[00:24:59] only one who cares about me and I want to tell this this cup of
[00:25:04] coffee guy that I need more than a cup of coffee but I don't know how to
[00:25:09] so when he says do you need anything and he wants to say to the guy
[00:25:14] yeah I need love I need love that I need a family these are the things
[00:25:18] you could bring for me but instead I say a cup of coffee
[00:25:23] please so it's like I want to say all these
[00:25:27] but I don't know how to say it so I just say all right I'll just get us a
[00:25:30] coffee because it's just too difficult to explain to one stranger
[00:25:35] what you really want but you just you know that's
[00:25:39] yeah that's basically why we called it cup of coffee because we
[00:25:43] wanted someone to feel like that's basically what you what else can you
[00:25:49] do you can't give them a house you can't give them a family member
[00:25:55] you can only give them food or coffee or money right yeah so yeah
[00:26:04] it's nice because you feel like you're just trying to be more compassionate
[00:26:08] when you're listening to the song
[00:26:12] so yes so do check out Sarah Lewis dot base for all the information her
[00:26:17] latest singles and the album so all the all the single links are on
[00:26:22] there as well so all the all the singles which you've released they can
[00:26:26] purchase it on the digital downloads yeah sure or itunes if they've got
[00:26:30] itunes it's on every single platform so just look for Sarah Lewis change
[00:26:35] of plan and you'll see it on there and I'm basically I've done all the
[00:26:39] prize draws that I possibly can but I am going to do some more competitions
[00:26:43] next month about winning some more albums because I'm doing a live every
[00:26:51] Sunday at 10 o'clock in the morning at 10 o'clock at night and I'm going to do
[00:26:55] Sarah's top 10 on Spotify and I'm going to like involve some competitions
[00:27:02] about that next month because if people can guess what number one is of that
[00:27:06] Sunday then they win the album but they have to guess what it is because
[00:27:10] I'm the only one that will have all the data for all of it so if they
[00:27:16] can guess what song's been streamed the most in the last 24 hours then
[00:27:20] they'll be winning some CDs yeah exciting exciting so fun I did I did hear
[00:27:28] a rumor that the CDs are going to come back into fashion or sooner rather than
[00:27:36] later so let's see that might be the case I hope so because it's nice for
[00:27:42] artists like when I'm performing people ask me have you got any
[00:27:46] CDs and it's so nice because I don't want to be like does anyone want to
[00:27:50] buy a CD because I just feel a bit pushy but when people ask me for one I'm like
[00:27:54] oh that's so nice yeah exactly we get so little for streams it's just
[00:28:03] pointless like it can hardly buy us a cup of tea let alone
[00:28:08] you know it's like it's embarrassing sometimes when I look at my when I
[00:28:12] look at my stats I'm like really 23 000 streams and I get a pound are you
[00:28:18] joking oh the thing I know I know they are pros and cons of a digital but but I think personally
[00:28:29] for the artist and to make it better for the for the for the singers which are you know
[00:28:37] I'm trying to make a living like yourself like like so many of the singles which we've spoken
[00:28:45] on the woman podcast it has the CDs you know there needs to be two ways of doing things
[00:28:53] it can't be all digital because if it's all digital then those rising singers they're going
[00:28:58] to struggle to get to the you know where they want to get to and so it has to be
[00:29:05] I've been looking into selling vinyls but they're just so expensive to produce
[00:29:11] I've yeah okay instead of getting them for to sell I've got them as prizes because I think
[00:29:16] they're really special they're really nice keepsake aren't they yeah it's like the vinyls
[00:29:24] they have come back in a big way but the problem is like you said they are expensive to
[00:29:30] you know to get out the vinyls yeah that's what you think yeah and then it's about are
[00:29:36] you going to make profit out of that or not that's the thing as well I don't think people that
[00:29:41] produce vinyls do it to make profit I think they do it just to break even so that their
[00:29:46] audience has something special of that person to keep
[00:29:55] the only way artists can make money is if they if their song gets used in a tv commercial
[00:30:01] or something like that yeah anything if we get played on radio one every day so keep
[00:30:07] requesting our songs on the radio all us local independent musicians please everyone yeah yeah so
[00:30:13] so if if any any if if the if the BBC are listening BBC radio one 21 um there you go
[00:30:22] please play my songs play your song yeah did you get I mean as we are talking about radio
[00:30:28] station do you get any requests from radio station to play your song um people have videoed
[00:30:33] the fact that they've asked radio to play um song requests of mine yeah which is lovely
[00:30:40] and I've been on BBC radio quite a bit which is really nice because everybody messages me and
[00:30:46] goes I've just heard you on BBCS6 I was like wow I didn't even know about it and someone
[00:30:52] requested me to be played on Radio Caroline which is lovely because I didn't even know
[00:30:56] Radio Caroline was still there and then when I contacted them again I've been in
[00:31:02] that he's been messaging me going have you got any other songs that you want me to play
[00:31:04] which is lovely because he's asking me now for songs which is really nice and then I have
[00:31:09] to choose one I don't know what one to choose because when you've just brought out an album
[00:31:16] then I'll send me your favorite song off the album but I don't even know what my favorite
[00:31:20] song is off the album I couldn't well if I had to pick I'd say better be lightning
[00:31:27] because of how it was created it's really special and when I saw this dress in Nashville
[00:31:33] it says wild and free that's the lyrics of my song and I couldn't believe it I had to have
[00:31:39] it it's like part of my song madness yeah I think probably because um I've asked this
[00:31:49] question as well to many artists that uh which is your favorite thing on there like
[00:31:54] it's hard for them to choose because all of them is their creation I guess and uh you know it's
[00:31:59] like they it's like the baby isn't it's their creation um where they you know they worked hard
[00:32:05] they produced they've written it so I guess you can't really say one's better than the other one
[00:32:13] uh when you've released all of them yourself they all mean different things yeah they all
[00:32:18] mean something quite different but yeah it's special that it's special when people request my
[00:32:23] songs because that means something to them as well as me they like it and I'll request it and
[00:32:32] um there was a bit of a problem in the summer with one of my songs on Spotify
[00:32:35] because Spotify contacted me and said that it's been put on a fake playlist and it really
[00:32:39] upset me because it was ironic that something that's called be real would be put on something
[00:32:45] fake it's like how did this happen and I just I took it off of all platforms because I was
[00:32:52] really upset about it and um like my audience members were contacting me and going we missed
[00:32:58] be real we need it back in our lives which was quite sweet really so I've put it on
[00:33:04] with a different distributor now and I haven't touched wood where's some wood my guitar I
[00:33:10] haven't had any problems lately because yeah they've left me alone so let's hope
[00:33:17] that there's no bot playlists out there that I get put on for a joke because it's not funny
[00:33:25] yeah exactly oh yeah absolutely absolutely so you've got your you've got your guitar with you
[00:33:32] yeah oh fantastic yeah whichever whichever I'll I'll just put you on
[00:33:42] do you want to pick one because you don't know all of the songs on here do you so if
[00:33:46] you was to pick one and you don't know them what one would you pick probably
[00:33:57] probably the the second one cup of coffee you'd pick up a coffee would you oh that's so cute
[00:34:04] so you'd want to hear it how long how much time have we got um not that much but uh yeah
[00:34:17] but just give a little promo I don't want you to do the whole thing because
[00:34:22] well just do a little bit people should purchase it I think it's be fair because
[00:34:26] every time this song goes to um so even though it's not as a single yeah it's part
[00:34:34] of the album it still does so every time I get a bit of data for it okay it's 10 am
[00:34:42] on Loughlin street and it's almost time for him to visit me like he does every day
[00:34:54] he is once again he's the only one who sees me and listens to what I have to say
[00:35:04] Hey, he asked me what I want
[00:35:15] I'm trying to find a way to answer love or laughter
[00:35:24] a family these are the things you could bring to me I don't want money I don't need fame
[00:35:36] I just want you to know my name instead I say instead I say a cup of coffee please
[00:35:47] oh thank you wow great great stop so to do um is going to a great cause Shelters UK
[00:36:01] so do please purchase the single uh every little is going to um um you know help um everyone
[00:36:10] um it is it is a big it is a bigger um you know it is a big thing in the UK we don't
[00:36:16] realize anybody who's donated so far because we've nearly raised 80 pounds just in the first
[00:36:21] week of the release of the album for this song so thank you so much for those who've
[00:36:27] donated to my instagram page um and we're going to be singing this at country on the
[00:36:31] coast on me and will going to be singing this country on the coast on saturday um which is
[00:36:37] really special and I'm going to get some um buckets and take them with me for Shelter
[00:36:41] UK as well so people can donate on the day should be nice yeah absolutely absolutely so do
[00:36:47] do check out Sarah Sarah louise.biz um and the link is on their description so if you watch
[00:36:54] this afterwards the link is on the description of the live interview um the interview chat so
[00:37:01] you can get onto it from there as well um and uh yeah do and do do check it out and do
[00:37:08] um purchase it very very digital is very very cost effective as well like I said I mentioned
[00:37:16] it is you know the price is the price is low did you keep the price low yourself or is it like
[00:37:22] is a is like an effort when I do um when I do it for social media like you can basically
[00:37:30] put in your tracks so if you put your tracks in for 79p that makes the album cheaper
[00:37:36] whereas if you're putting for 99p then the album would have been nearly 14 pounds because
[00:37:42] it works out a pound a track but then I thought well hang on a minute it's digital and I like
[00:37:48] the reason I've charged 11 pound is because it's got um I am angel on there which is really
[00:37:55] special song and I'm really in touch with my angel numbers and I just 11 pound covers the
[00:38:00] artwork and covers the the postage and things like that which so I can send out properly but
[00:38:05] obviously when someone's buying something digital that takes a lot of the cost-effective
[00:38:09] price down so yeah but everybody that's purchased a physical copy thank you so much because
[00:38:15] you've got a keepsake there and it's not just in your phone and that means more to me and you
[00:38:20] so that's lovely absolutely so do check out um goodness we've been chatting for um
[00:38:28] um such a long time did you have a time in the garage because you never get off the
[00:38:34] you never get off of here when you're talking to me do you no I don't to be honest and uh
[00:38:40] I remember when I when I when I chatted you last time and you told me that you've been singing for
[00:38:44] such a long time and I'm like this can't be right she can't be no I thought yeah well she
[00:38:52] she looks so young and I'm like she's been singing for such a long time oh thank you
[00:38:59] I'm like wow uh but yeah you've been singing and you have a plan I can see on the website
[00:39:05] where you want to release about 10 albums in the next what is it 10 years or something
[00:39:09] yeah so I want to know so album number six this is a secret all right don't tell anyone
[00:39:15] so album number six I want to release in October okay this year so I want to be able
[00:39:23] to basically I want to be able to release 10 original albums in 10 years so by the time I've
[00:39:32] but so basically I've got another four years to release for to release six more albums
[00:39:40] and that's going to be my 10 years yeah because I started releasing albums
[00:39:44] in 2020 that was my first album release so I've got so where are we oh no no yeah I've got to
[00:39:54] oh no because I bought out all I need in 2018 yeah so basically I've got until
[00:39:59] um where are we 2028 2028 that's it that's it that's my time that's my limit so by 2028
[00:40:10] I want to release another six albums that's done me in four years you will be releasing
[00:40:18] six albums that's that's crazy that's like uh I am crazy it's like you're you're going
[00:40:29] you're going to be like a vampire you will be sleeping at all you'll be like I don't
[00:40:33] anyway now I love it because I've already got songs that I wanted to finish
[00:40:39] but so I basically already got another three songs already for the next album
[00:40:44] because there's this there's so many artists um who are you know uh without obviously
[00:40:50] without naming them because they probably kill me if I didn't name them um but but but the
[00:40:54] thing is um there's so many artists who release like one album in a year which is which is fair
[00:40:59] which is fair enough as well um you can understand that but but this this is going to be like uh
[00:41:07] for yeah it'll be like nearly two albums in a year or something nearly
[00:41:10] nearly there will be two albums in a year yeah yeah so you'll be you'll be like writing
[00:41:16] non-stop well the thing is I do and and another thing which I want to do is I wanted
[00:41:22] to involve my audience right because I want them to help me with the topics of what they think
[00:41:27] I should write about which gets them more involved because then they're part of it which I love
[00:41:35] because I wouldn't even be doing this if it wasn't for them so it's nice that they're
[00:41:39] that closely involved in my songwriting process and I just think it's really special
[00:41:45] because why are we doing it if we haven't got an audience we're not just doing it
[00:41:50] for ourselves are we we're doing it for other people and when I can help others and
[00:41:54] write songs for others I love it yeah definitely definitely I mean I mean yeah absolutely
[00:42:02] yeah the artist do they do they for the do they for the fans and um absolutely and for
[00:42:07] the and and and the feedback which you get from the fans that obviously helps you
[00:42:14] you know keep on writing more and you know um you know and if there's any constructive feedback
[00:42:21] then you can you know you can take that on board any good feedback which is fantastic so
[00:42:27] it's all like um it's all a all great feedback which you get from from your fans so where do
[00:42:34] you get the most feedback is there any particular social media where you get more feedback than
[00:42:38] the others I'm just sharing this now on my channel so that in case people didn't get the
[00:42:43] link but I'm basically I really love going live because it feels real and I'm all about being
[00:42:52] real and sometimes when I'm at a show um I obviously see new people but I love creating
[00:43:00] a community online where everybody can be there from any part of the world they want and they
[00:43:04] all make friends and I love that so I did an experiment this year for the album release and
[00:43:11] I said right everyone I'm going to go live on TikTok and Instagram in the morning no hang on
[00:43:15] TikTok and Facebook at half past nine every morning in March and half past nine in the evening
[00:43:21] I'm going YouTube and Instagram and I did an experiment on what was the most favorite of
[00:43:26] everybody and everybody appreciates YouTube more than any of the other platforms so I said
[00:43:32] well okay well because of that we're going to go live Wednesday and Sunday every week
[00:43:40] I can't keep it up I can't go live every single day because I wasn't eating and sleeping or
[00:43:44] showering I didn't have time so this way everybody gets to be part of my writing process
[00:43:53] and just you know I have a catch-up and I do quizzes in my group and I've got like a music
[00:43:58] quiz tomorrow it's just nice to have different platforms where there's different people and
[00:44:03] then some people come on all and some people download all the apps for me bless them I know
[00:44:11] they probably they're probably going to be totally filled up on this so they probably
[00:44:15] let these storage warnings like I do warning your storage is to fill it up empty but
[00:44:23] yeah but that's that's that's that is a nice thing and like I said on YouTube obviously
[00:44:28] I'm going to you know I'll go you on YouTube and your live there very often on YouTube I can see
[00:44:34] you know doing stuff and either performing live or I think once you were like performing
[00:44:41] outside somewhere as well yeah so you do I like to have a network though I've been
[00:44:49] performing in Woodbridge quite a bit because I really like Woodbridge in Suffolk and I've met
[00:44:53] some lovely people there and the good thing is when I'm performing outside like that I get
[00:44:58] to meet more people then they book me for events and then I'm more people and then I meet more
[00:45:04] people and then just all just comes together and it's lovely you know and you've been to
[00:45:09] Nashville as well haven't you twice now twice to Nashville so how was how was the experience
[00:45:16] in Nashville oh it's just amazing loved it the first time was a whirlwind you know everybody
[00:45:22] was whoa just so nice to me I loved I loved being there on my own but I also loved being
[00:45:28] there with Will as well because he played in some shows for me because I was supposed to be
[00:45:33] working out there the second time I went because I met some people and I was going
[00:45:37] to be working out there staying with my friend and doing some bands and working in
[00:45:42] like tootsies and things like that but didn't happen because I couldn't use my elbow and
[00:45:47] I was going to be playing guitar in the band as like an acoustic band and it just so
[00:45:54] just being part being part of Nashville experience again for the second time I was
[00:45:59] very lucky because I got to have a different experience next time and I got to play in
[00:46:05] the Bluebird which is my which was one of my like dream goals to be able to perform in
[00:46:09] the Bluebird and it was just so special and I got to perform Better Be Lightning
[00:46:13] which is the song that I wrote in Noida and my next goal for Nashville was the Grand Ole Opry
[00:46:21] so yeah love it love it love it absolutely so do do check it out yeah I know we are running a
[00:46:29] bit out of time here but and I'm sure you'll be doing stuff after this as well you'll be
[00:46:34] like you said are you like performing today as well yes sir I'm live on YouTube tonight at 10
[00:46:39] o'clock because I'm going to do my top 10 my top 10 Spotify listen to tracks so I'm going to be
[00:46:46] doing 10 at 10 so 10 at 10 do check it out and if you obviously following the woman podcast
[00:46:53] yeah you see Sarah's channel on there as well on the featured channels I've shared it on my
[00:47:00] my post actually yeah 10 10 10 o'clock live um Sarah Sarah is going there she's not going to
[00:47:10] like sleep tonight so she'll get her day um yeah I'm only going to be live
[00:47:18] 40 couple coffee or your Horlicks or your Ovaltine or whatever and and
[00:47:22] and I'm going to get time to drink people say why do you always go live so late I was like well
[00:47:29] because that way everyone can watch me in Australia and and in America it's a good
[00:47:34] time for everyone that is yeah it is it is actually and uh because um when when I was gonna
[00:47:44] uh interview a couple of artists who live in uh in America with the time difference I was
[00:47:51] like interviewing them about um by 12 o'clock in the night and that kind of time uh because
[00:47:57] there's a time difference and they're they're only three at those times so um you have to do
[00:48:03] it at those times so yeah uh yeah and I felt a bit like uh you know like I never sleep
[00:48:09] when I was interviewing them like it was 12 o'clock and I'm like yeah yeah they didn't
[00:48:15] realize how tired you were because it's the middle of the day for them so they're just like
[00:48:18] oh well it was routine for them yeah they were like they were full of energy and I was like
[00:48:27] yeah but when I when I was doing um my last album I was so excited that it got to number
[00:48:33] one in the album charts I stayed up for four days without sleep that's just stupid in it
[00:48:42] because I had so many interviews and so many people and like it was just such a whirlwind
[00:48:47] time I wasn't expecting it I can remember not sleeping for four days because I went all the
[00:48:53] way through and I was like come on let's get that number one and I stayed live all day on
